COMMUNITY QUESTION: Alternative treatments for Osteoporosis?

Janine asks: 'Hi, I'm after some advice... has anybody found an alternative treatment to having osteoporosis? The doctor has advised an injection every 6 months called prolia, but after researching the possible side effects I am not very keen on taking this. I am only 49 years old - thanks for any advice!'

  • I have been getting the Prolia injections for 2 1/2 years. I was terrified when I read the possible side effects, but my doctor talked me into giving it a try saying he was sure it would be the most beneficial to me because I had tried all the oral meds available and was not able to tolerate them. Well, long story short...I have had NO side effects from the shots, and my bone density is showing improvement! I'm so glad I decided to go ahead with it!
  • I got the Prolia injection a week or so ago and have had no side effects so far. I’m 47 years old.
